Airframe Description

  • 2012
    • Originally built in Colorado US
  • 2015
    • Transferred to 2nd owner in Alberta Canada
  • 2019
    • Transferred to 3rd owner (also in Alberta)
    • Frame factory powder coated polyfiber fabric
    • Seat pans on Series 5 can be vulnerable to hard landings, this one has been beautifully reinforced with carbon fiber to address the potential risk.
    • Entire aircraft wiring from nosecone to tailwheel replaced with top shelf aviation grade shielded cables (no headset whines here!)
    • Carbon Fiber overlays in panel for Garmin 430 and GTR200B.
    • Pilot side rudder pedals upgraded with Puka Pedals
  • 2020
    • Brake lines replaced with braided stainless steel
    • Header tank upgraded to aluminum with all new fittings
    • Lead acid battery upgraded to EarthX 680C
    • Carbon fiber oil cooler exhaust plenum with electrically actuated damper for variable oil temperature control from the cockpit.
    • 8lb tail counterweight added
    • Front inlet cooling ducts added to increase cooling on hot days
    • Welded doubler on tailwheel bracket (in rare cases Series 5s can develop a crack there, best to mitigate the risk ahead of time)
    • Upgraded to Airframes alaska T3 tailwheel suspension system
    • Upgraded to Garmin G5 AHRS
    • Bubble doors installed (BEST FEATURE on this plane!)
  • 2021
    • Upgraded to dual piston Beringer brakes
    • All torque tubes upgraded with gusseted design to eliminate risk of fatigue cracking risk at the base weld. Reworked blocks with UHMW bushings to reduce friction and freeplay. (this is the lightest, smoothest and tightest control feel in any plane I’ve flown)
    • Upgraded to Goodyear 26in bushwheels (bit heavier, but good for thousands of landings)
    • Installed Beringer brake regulator to give variable control over the pedal strength
    • Installed high current USB charger & voltmeter on dash
    • Added vortex generators to the wings and tail
    • Lightspeed electronic ignition added - rated for 118hp
  • 2022
    • Repatriated back to the US with its current owner (Montana)
    • All new fuel lines
    • Installed AV-20
    • Installed uAvionix TailBeaconX ADS-B
    • Addition of AeroLED AeroSUN landing lights with custom strut mounts
    • Addition of AeroLED Pulsar nav & strobe lights (sync’d to each other)
    • Re-Registered in US with new tail number: N313KF & updated airworthiness
    • Dash mounted iPadholder
    • Installed customer auxiliary headset jacks behind the shoulder for convenient headset wire routing
  • 2023
    • Minor prop strike. Out of an abundance of caution the prop was replaced and an A&P did a full disassembly of the engine running all the appropriate ADs, documentation included. It’s actually smoother now than before (probably just a better balance on the prop)
  • 2024
    • Meticulously maintained by both of its last owners since 2015 (both engineers) and has been stored in a climate controlled hangar all of its life. This is a brilliant little bush plane, it’s very economical burning typically around 5 gal/hr, there is an STC to run on MoGas but it’s always been run on AvGas. It’s a dream to fly, has stunning visibility and I hope it’s new home gets to use it more than I did. My only regret is not being able to make more time to fly it as much as I’d wished.
