The helicopter was substantially damaged at about 1258 Central time during a hard landing following a loss of engine power shortly after takeoff. The commercial pilot and flight medic sustained serious injuries while the flight nurse sustained minor injuries. Visual conditions prevailed. According to the pilot, after takeoff and while approximately 100 feet in the air, the single-engine helicopter experienced a complete loss of engine power.

<p>“It never rains in southern California,” or so goes the song. Yet, attendees at this year’s Heli-Expo in Anaheim would disagree with that statement. While poor weather may have kept down attendance, it did nothing to dampen enthusiasm among the thousands of attendees of braved the elements. The annual rotorcraft blowout attracted the best and brightest to check out the latest offerings from industry participants. In addition to new airframes and new avionics and in contrast to the weather outside the Anaheim Convention Center, industry leaders say the future looks bright.
