A 160HP/fixed pitch prop version of the A-1B sans flaps. It has the same fuselage and basic wing of the 03 A1-B (again, without flaps). Sure, it loses a little performance for takeoff and landing- if you need that we sell those too- but it also saves tens of thousands of dollars in purchase price, saves over 100 lbs of weight compared to a typical 180HP A-1B, lowers fuel consumption, has a less expensive engine to overhaul and is within a couple mph for cruise speed and still comfortably gets into and out of a shorter runway than 98% of the rest of the S/E fleet. Built on the same line and with the same processes as the 180HP, it was a slightly de-optioned version with lighter seat cushions, a more basic interior (black plywood vs teak & holly floorboards), no flaps/flap mechanism, the Christian Eagle fiberglass cowling and was only VFR certified on the TCDS.
It still offers great performance and the outstanding build quality that Aviat is renouned for . N74HP offers a Custom Birkmeyer paint scheme with optional front and rear black plywood floorboards, rear seat heat and defrost, a full gyro package and a radio package that includes a Becker Comm, an L-3 Lynx ADS-B In/Out transponder with a pilot-selectable flat-screen display of wx, traffic or radar. There's also a Garmin 396 GPS hardwired into the aircraft's electrical system and a dual Stratus USB-A power outlet. It's a fun & sporty low-cost entry into the world of Husky ownership.
We built this as a new aircraft for the DFW based first owner, then in the midwest. Excellent condition, always hangared, no corrosion. Owned by 2 related parties since 2007, maintained to a very high level.
